Medlar | Fruits Grow in Turkey

Medlar, or Mespilus germanica, is a Rosaceae family tree with small, brownish-orange fruits that taste tart and sweet, resembling apples and dates. Harvested post-frost, they’re softened, or “bletted,” off the tree for consumption. Medlars offer dietary fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants and are versatile in dishes and traditional medicines, despite lessened popularity.
